Choosing Hope at the End of Life
At the end of life, many patients express hope for the impossible. They hope to escape death. Hospice caregivers also struggle with the notion of hope in the face of their own certain death and seek clarity for their own lives and for their patients. Using various disciplines, reflection, and story, this presentation will explore what hope is, how it functions, the natural context in which it is born and nourished, its allies and its enemies. Hospice caregivers can learn to educate and empower their patients to choose hope.
